Dog License

 All dogs must be licensed by 4 months of age.  To obtain an license the owner must have proof the dog has been vaccinated for rabies.

 Fees:
• $5.00 if spayed/neutered (Proof must be shown at time of obtaining the license)
• $13.00 if not spayed/neutered
• $10.00 if the dog is under 4 months old.

Marriage License

 Both people must be present to obtain the marriage license, with birth certificate and picture identification.  If either person has been previously married, they must submit all divorce papers at the time of obtaining the license.  Make sure it is your divorce decree and not the separation agreement.

The marriage ceremony may not take place within 24 hours from the time that the license is issued.  The marriage license is only valid for 60 days, beginning the day after it is issued.  If both applicants are 18 years of age or older, no consents are required.  The certificate is only valid within New York State excluding New York City.

Hunting License

 To obtain a hunting license a New York state drivers license or Photo ID is necessary.  First time licensee must show their Hunter Safety Certification.

Election Inspectors:

The Town of Horseheads is looking for people interested in working as election inspectors to work the polls during elections. If you are a registered Democrat or Republican and are interested in becoming an inspector, please contact the Chemung County Board of Elections at (607) 737-5475 or the Town Clerks office at (607) 739-8783. All inspectors are paid for their training and the days they work.

     Penalties:

• Paid before January 31^st – No Penalty

• Paid between February 1^st – February 29^th – 1% interest charge

• Paid between March 1^st – March 31^st – 2% interest charge (Plus $2.00 Notice fee)

• AS OF APRIL 1^st – All taxes have to be sent to Chemung County Treasures Office – (607) 737-2927.
