Mission Statement:
To protect the health, safety and well-being of persons and
property by imposing restrictions on the keeping and running at large of dogs
within the Town. To provided shelter services for dogs that are found at
large, stray, lost, unwanted or otherwise, within the Town of Horseheads.
To provide suitable dogs for adoption with extra care given to ensure the proper
match between the dog and it's adoptive family. To provide euthanasia
services after all considerations are made, in a compassionate and professional
manner.
Welcome to the home page for the Town of Horseheads Animal Shelter. All the
animals pictured on this site are available for adoptions. If you are interested
in adopting one of these animals or donating food or other supplies you can
contact the shelter at the above phone number. We’re located at 150 Wygant Road
among the Town Hall buildings right behind the Highway Garages.

Fees:
Spay/Neuter Deposit - Rabies Vaccination
New York State Law requires we obtain from adopters a minimum $35.00 deposit
that will be refunded with proof your pet was spayed/neutered. All
dogs and puppies are required by New York State Law to be licensed by owners
before leaving the shelter. All dogs and puppies over 3 months of age must
receive a rabies shot.

Monetary Donations are always accepted, payable to AGAPE
VETERINARY CLINIC to subsidize our medical account
BE AN ANONYMOUS ADOPTER
Anyone
interested in contributing funds towards the adoption of a
particular dog or cat would be very helpful in making that
dog or cat more affordable to someone on a fixed income,
less fortunate than ourselves or just down on their luck.

the list of shelters. Go to our pet list, pick a pet or
pets that you would like to be an
“ANONYMOUS ADOPTER” for, give us a
call at (607) 739-3945 and tell us who that lucky pet is.
We will keep a running tally on that pet or pets as you
bring the funds in and will award those funds to whomever we
feel will give that pet a loving, caring and happy home.
We will inform you of when the pet is adopted.
This is a great project for a
young person who might want to break their “Piggy Bank” or
turn in some pop bottles for a good cause.
